High temperatures expected for holiday weekend in Aiken | Local News
Summer has finally arrived just in time to celebrate the holiday weekend with temperatures rising in the 90s.
The maximum temperature on Friday will be nearly 96 degrees with sunny and clear skies. A 20% chance of scattered thunderstorms is forecast after 2 p.m., according to Columbia’s National Weather Service.
Saturday should also be a hot and sunny day, according to the NWS. The maximum will be 90 degrees with a 40% probability of showers after 2 p.m.
A cold front will move through the area on Sunday, pushing temperatures into the 70s or 80s. Sunny skies are always expected throughout the day, according to the NWS.
Memorial Day Monday is expected to have a maximum temperature of 83 degrees in Aiken County with mostly sunny skies. The minimum will be 57 degrees.
Matthew Dupee, Aiken resident, plans to spend his vacation weekend volunteering at the Memorial Day Parade on Saturday and with a family barbecue.
The Memorial Day Parade will be held in downtown Aiken on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
“I just can’t wait to be there and in Aiken,” Dupee said. “We’re usually away, so it’s a great opportunity to be here and celebrate the holidays and see the parade.”
Residents of Aiken County should stay hydrated throughout the weekend before a hot weekend in addition to using sun protection.
