Minister of Health: lockdown during high holidays is possible “if there is no longer a choice”
Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz said a lockdown during the upcoming Jewish holidays is “a last resort” but could be implemented if coronavirus cases continue to rise.
“The mask, as simple as it is, is the most effective thing we have. Vaccines, quarantine, masks, restrictions at Ben-Gurion airport, these are the things that can prevent more difficult stages. A lockdown is the last resort, ”he said while escorting his parents to receive their third vaccines.
However, he added: “If we seem to get to a point where there is no longer a choice, we will have to do it. But it is not a question of fate. If we follow the guidelines, we may be able to avoid blockages. “
He also says the government is currently planning to “properly open” schools as scheduled on September 1.
